The success of the Mounib’s operation gave hope to many other kids with similar medical attention and led to the creation of the Maghreb-American Health Foundation (MAHF).

In 2008, a young and smart kid with a severe spine malformation called Spina bifida was left laying in an hospital bed without hope in the hands of local specialist doctors. All the Algerian diaspora living abroad and locally got touched by the videos circulating via social media calling for help. Mounib’s medical prospect got seriously bad that it necessitated a special air lift urgently, as he was entering in a coma stage. Dr Azzedine coordinated and helped the evacuation and hospitalization of Mounib.

The success of the operation could not have been possible without the help and the logistic of the Algerian-American Association of Greater Washington (AAAGW), a cultural association promoting our heritage in the USA, located in the Washington DC area.
